Poems from Kids
We'd like to share some more amazing poems written by friends India
Badiner and Shayna Stoddard.
Circle of Life
Patterns in the sky
Colors in the pond
Animals in the forest
This is me
This is who I am
No one can change me
I live here
I was born here
I live with the rain
I live with the sun
I live with the day
I live with the night
Someone who accepts who they are
Because it is what life gave them
They follow the circle of life
Which is designed to lead us along the way
until we can cope alone
and find wisdom
in what we are
we are
and we always will be.
- India Badiner, age 10
Nature's Warning
A bolt of thunder
A flash of light
Lighting up
The star stained night
The pelting snow
A frozen river below
The scorching sun
A whole lot of fun
The leaves turn brown
And fall on the ground
The trees are dead
They serve as a bed
For all different heads
The years pass
The seasons fly
There is nothing
But tree stumps
Because of mankind
The animals are gone
Because they don’t
Have a pond
This is what
Our world will be
If we just keep
Cutting down trees
Remember, it can
Start with an axe
So we need to be
Aware, not to turn
Our backs
- Shayna Stoddard, age 11
Nature Runs Through Me
I am nature
I formed by nature
Growing like nature does
As creamy buttercups bloom
I bloom…
As the oak tree grows
I grow…
Taller every day
As the oak tree jumps higher
Aligned with my window
Years pass
And I am grown
My old tree friend
Has a tree of its own
Now oak tree begins again
As I continue
Nature is a part of me
I am a part of nature.
This is my legacy.
Then I am old
And so is the old oak tree.
- India Badiner, age 10
